Hi Amanda, I recently discovered your blog and really enjoyed reading your posts. As a Korean-American, I grew up watching K dramas - thanks to my parents - but couldn't understand much of the content since they didn't have subtitles back then. However, like you, I became obsessed when Netflix started including them in their inventory a couple of years ago. I wanted to recommend an oldie-but-goodie drama, Star in My Heart, that I watched originally without subtitles but recently watched again. (The show made a quick cameo in Reply 1997.) Though the production values are a little dated, it has all the ingredients that earned its massive ratings - chaebol heir, spunky Cinderella heroine, great music, and memorable secondary characters. I'm dying to know what you'll think of it! Watching this show again revived my long lost crazy fandom over this show. I remember wanting to fly to Seoul to meet the guy who played the lead. Now that I'm in Seoul 17 years later, I wonder if he's still around? ;-) Anyway, it would be great fun to hear what you think of it!
